The Little Karoo is situated in the synclinorium between the two parallel ranges of the east-west stretching section of the Cape Folded Mountains; thus the Swartberg, Baviaanskloofberg and the Anysberg forms the northern border; and the Langeberg and Outeniqua Mountains the southern border; in the east the Kougaberg and in the west the Hex River Mountains.
