The naming scheme I use is to name all networked devices after our pets.
BUKS
BUKS is an HP LaserJet 1022nw, configured as a network printer.
FORD
FORD is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100-247.

TRISTAN is an APC SmartUPS 2200 and provides (un)interupted power to SELLA, SPONS and ZAPHOD. It is connected to and monitored by SELLA through the propriety serial cable with apcupsd.
ZAPHOD
ZAPHOD is the firewall and Squid cache.
