A little village of holiday homes set on the promontory of Walker Point, Buffelsbaai was named for the huge numbers of Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer) which once roamed here, the last of which was shot and killed in 1883.
The long stretch of beach is popular with both swimmers and surfers, while on its eastern side it shelters a bay and slipway used by powerboat fishermen. The rocks west of Buffelsbaai provide excellent opportunity for anglers.
