Practically a suburb of Mosselbaai, Danabaai slopes down to virtually unspoilt beaches where you’ll as often as not see patient anglers watching their lines. Here the icy and rough sea is home to the viciously stinging blue bottle (Portuguese man’o’war) and is not very suitable for swimming. Long stretches of white sand, however, invite one to either lazily sunbathe or go for a brisk walk - depending on the weather! Dana Bay is a modern development, started from scratch in the nineteen sixties and gradually grown into an upperclass residential area. Protective of its wildlife - guineafowl, francolin, tortoises and several species of buck - Dana Bay is zoned for conservation and the residents are urged to plant only indigenous trees and shrubs in their gardens. Of late Danabaai now boasts several supermarkets and other amenities.
