Mostly visited by anglers for rich catches of shad and kob, the hamlet of Vleesbaai consists of holiday cottages owned by farmers and other locals. Formerly popular for driving 4x4 vehicles on the sandy beaches, this is now a forbidden pleasure and conservation is strictly observed to protect especially the nesting black oystercatchers.
